Amsterdam Art x Art Review Conference

As the world changes, so does our relationship with the past that shaped it.

We are entering a period in which culture is a battleground for wider social and political disputes. These battles are fought not only in the creative and curatorial practices that shape the future, but also in revisions of the history of art: some neglected stories will be recovered and reclaimed, others suppressed.

Through international trade, colonialism and liberalism the city of Amsterdam played a critical part in shaping the world we live in today as well as the cultural inheritance of the West. This provides a compelling starting point for a series of talks and discussions about the role of art in contemporary society, the rewriting of art history and the future of the art market. The talks will offer you the opportunity to join these discussions and come up with concrete suggestions about how to create art histories and systems that reflect the values of a progressive society.

Influential local and international artists, museum directors, critics, curators and collectors are taking part in the conference, including Rafael Rozendaal (visual artist), Kenny Schachter (writer, curator and art dealer), Luise Faurschou (Faurschou Art Resources), Annette Schönholzer (coach and consultant at .connect the dots and former director of Art Basel), Patricia Kaersenhout (visual artist and activist) and many more.
