De Nieuwe Liefde is een platform voor taal en literatuur, in de breedste zin van het woord. Met onze programma’s bieden we ruimte voor gemeenschappen en verhalen die urgente maatschappelijke onderwerpen bevragen en duiden. Ons huis bedient een inclusief publiek, met een programmering waarin de stad weerklinkt – lokaal geworteld, maar met een landelijke betekenis en een internationale verbinding. Met dat uitgangspunt staan we in onze najaars- en winterprogrammering stil bij de oorlog in Gaza en de bezette Palestijnse gebieden.
We volgen met afschuw de verwoesting en het onmetelijke menselijke lijden dat uit de hevige bombardementen tegen onschuldige mensen in Gaza voortvloeit. Wij roepen tot de directe instandhouding van universele mensenrechten op en pleiten voor een onmiddellijk staakt-het-vuren en voor vrijlating van alle gijzelaars, om verdere verliezen van mensenlevens te voorkomen.

De Nieuwe Liefde is a platform for language and literature, in the broadest sense of the word. With our programs, we hold space for communities and stories that question and interpret pressing social issues. Our house caters to an inclusive audience, with programming that echoes the city – locally rooted, but with national significance and international connection. Upon that premise, our fall and winter programming reflects on the war in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
We witness, with alarm, the devastation and immeasurable human suffering resulting from the relentless bombings against innocent people in Gaza. We call for the immediate upholding of universal human rights and call for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages to prevent further loss of life.
